Triathlon For A CureSeptember 01, 2009 by Bill Strong We've posted about our friends Mike, Sarah, and their darling daughter, Reese, several times before. They are a Santa Barbara couple we met when both our daughters were just weeks old. They have become very dear friends and have been extremely supportive of us through every step of our journey with Gwendolyn's SMA.
Besides being a truly dedicated husband and father that I admire, Mike is an amazingly motivated, ambitious, competitive, athletic individual with an unbelievable amount of energy and drive. He has been training for the Ironman Arizona that will take place in November 2009. Yes, the Ironman: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run. And, yes, all three of those occur on the same day
And, not only is Mike training for the Ironman, a crazy demanding feat in and of itself, but he has graciously offered to use his training and racing to launch TriathlonForACure.com - a platform to share his participation in the sport while raising awareness of SMA and funding for the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation - keep in mind that Mike has no tie to SMA other than our family's experience.
We are thrilled, honored, and humbled by Mike's thoughtfulness and selflessness in conceptualizing, organizing, building, and launching TriathlonForACure.com.He'll be blogging regularly about his vigorous training and races at TriathlonForACure.com. Check it out. His dedication, focus, and motivation is truly inspiring!
