The Gwendolyn Strong Playground For All: SB Gives!November 15, 2018 by Victoria Strong
We are so excited! We have a brand NEW Master Plan for The Gwendolyn Strong Playground for All and we were just selected for SB Gives! and an opportunity to have donations MATCHED!
The Gwendolyn Strong Playground for All will be the first universally accessible playground in Santa Barbara County. Located at Dwight Murphy Field, this beautiful location across from the Santa Barbara Zoo and a block from East Beach is begging for revitalization. And Gwendolyn's Playground will make that happen. Our plan is an innovative, sensory-rich, barrier-free, and whimsical playground unlike anything in this region, alongside other new exciting park amenities, that will spark curiosity and delight for every age. While this is a big undertaking with an estimated budget of $4Million, we believe a playground is the perfect place to break down traditional barriers and focus on inclusion of everyone who lives among us.
To kick off our first fundraising effort for this space, we are thrilled that The Gwendolyn Strong Playground for All was just selected by the Santa Barbara Independent and the Santa Barbara Fund for SB Gives! This exciting year-end giving opportunity will allow money raised to be MATCHED, plus offers exposure and awareness on why an inclusive all-abilities playground is so important. Our goal for SB Gives! is to raise $10,000 to maximize the match potential and bring our end of year giving to a total of $20,000+ — and we hope you will help us do it!
- It’s easy.
- Simply donate HERE and 100% of your donation will be directed to us. (We are located in the Youth & Education section)
- Every dollar up to our $10,000 goal will be matched!
- Plus, the more we raise will also allow us to receive a higher percentage of the overall SB Gives! additional bonus funding.
- SB Gives! is LIVE today and active through December 31st.
So double your end of year giving with a simple click. And help us bring the first universally accessible playground to Santa Barbara County! Gwendolyn taught us so very clearly that friendship, courage, + kindness have no limitations.
