Meet Team GSF 2012 SBIM : 100+ Inspiring Runners : $115,000+ Raised

After a year of training and planning, race day for Team GSF in the Santa International Barbara Marathon (SBIM) is almost here. And we are ready. This weekend we will be surrounded by over 100 people running for Team GSF in the SBIM. And they are all AMAZING!

We are completely humbled by this entire experience. To have Gwendolyn's race dream come true is enormous. To have so many rooting for her is incredible. And to have over 100 people lace up their own running shoes, put in hours of training, and put themselves out there to fundraise for the GSF because they believe in us is just overwhelming.

Almost every one of our friends and so many in our family are running -- and if they are not running, they have donated in support of all those who are. And after signing up to run or donating in support they have encouraged their family and friends to join in too -- and so many of them did. Nine different SMA families are running -- all of them traveling from other areas to be here: New York, Massachusetts, Washington, and all over California. And so many of them encouraged their family and friends to join in too -- and so many of them did. Over 20 companies sponsored the team and several encouraged their employees to run for Team GSF -- and so many of them did. Many of these people we have never met and yet we are all connected now. Over 100 runners and they are all AMAZING!

It is truly humbling to look at a group of people and know that all of them have sacrificed and are pushing themselves for a cause that is our passion. They are challenging themselves physically, many more than they ever have before, while also juggling work and family for months to prepare. They have stepped outside of their comfort zones by asking for donations, hosting fundraisers, and rallying new people to the cause. Everyone has worked hard to get to this point and will be sweating it out on Saturday. And we are so grateful for all of them!

Team GSF is not about one family or one child. It never has been. No, Team GSF has always been filled with people who support the GSF because we have a shared vision of a world without this brutal disease. A mantra that each of us has the power to create CHANGE! And Team GSF has indeed done that! Over $115,000 has been raised by SBIM runners! Over 1,000 different people donated saying this cause matters. And a palpable NEVER GIVE UP. energy will no doubt be surging on the race course reaching even more people and inspiring them to learn more.

Team GSF truly is REMARKABLE PEOPLE. From the bottom of our hearts, we THANK each and every one of YOU.
