Prairie Blooms Boutique
It is incredible when people give back. And always strikes us when they choose to do something -- even though it does not directly impact them -- simply because they care. Julie Enstad is one such incredible person who is getting involved in the SMA cause simply because she cares and knows her efforts can help create change. After being inspired by darling Nella Grutter, Julie has turned her shop, Prairie Blooms Boutique, into a platform to give back. Her hand-crafted felt bows and headbands are gorgeous -- made even more beautiful because each sale is doing so much good.
"I'm a teacher turned stay-at-home to three little ones, with another little one on the way. I also had the honor of being the legal guardian to a very special little boy named, Alex, who was injured in an accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was a child. Although he was not able to talk,he said everything with his eyes and amazing laugh. I spent 8 years teaching both special education and elementary education, and I have always enjoyed working with children, especially children with special needs. I spend my days with my kids and my evenings making wool felt hair accessories. I have always had a passion for creating, from sewing to making headbands for my daughter. My shop started after I began making felt hair accessories for friends and decided to start my own business. I soon knew my little business could also have an impact on helping the SMA community. I have followed darling Nella on Instagram for a long time and met other SMA children, like Lucy, there, too. They inspire me and so I created "The SMA Collections," named in honor of little girls who can inspire us all. I've dedicated 5% of the SMA Collections to the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation. Doing this allows me to still feel connected to helping children, which makes me still feel connected to Alex who we still miss so much."
The Nella Collection reflects the lovely mermaid colors sweet Nella loves. (Eleanora says she feels like a princess wearing the Nella flower crown.) The Lucy Collection, named in honor of fashion obsessed Lucy Lunt, who had a hand in helping design her collection, have pops of bright colors. And all of the Prairie Blooms Boutique bows, headbands and crowns are whimsical and fun and perfect for newborns up to adults. The Gwendolyn Collection, all purples for our purple-loving girl. And a Mommy and Me matching collection is even in the works -- the perfect accessory to add to you matching NEVER GIVE UP. tees. And the Jordan Collection full of beautiful purples, blues, and designs that coordinate perfectly with the darling Two Little Beans Co. dresses who also donate a portion of proceeds in honor of sweet Jordan.
Thank you, Julie, for being the GOOD. Thank you for choosing to selflessly give back to the SMA cause and to honor the amazing children impacted. The world needs more wonderful people like you!
