Team GSF Is Remarkable People

June 21, 2012 by Victoria Strong

We are so, so, so excited about all the great things going on with Team GSF. Team GSF athletes have now raised $200,000 for the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation's programs. Amazing! And we were just selected as an OFFICIAL CHARITY for the Santa Barbara International Marathon (SBIM). AWESOME! This means more people will know about SMA, more people believe in what we are doing, and more people are getting involved!

Team GSF in the SBIM is growing rapidly. We are now up to almost 50 runners. 50 runners from all over the country. 50 runners pushing their physical strength to its limits. 50 runners! A team of sisters, a team of mommy friends, a grandparents team, those directly impacted by SMA, family, friends, first-timers, seasoned pros, incredible companies recruiting their employees and their clients... And all of these 50 will then touch hundreds of others who will donate in support of what each runner is doing to help the SMA cause! The positive impact is truly fantastic!

We are so, so thrilled -- especially because Team GSF is not about us. Team GSF is not about one family or one child. It never has been. No, Team GSF has always been filled with people who support theGSF because we have a shared vision of a world without SMA. A mantra that each of us has the power to create CHANGE!

Team GSF is Team Owen, Team Lucy, Team Hayden, Team Jenna, Team Charlie-Anne, Team Aaron, Team Kadence, Team Callie, Team Jadon, Team Nora, Team June, Team Taysen, Team Zane, Team Amanda, Team Gwendolyn...

Team GSF is parents who face the devastation of SMA saying, "I will PUSH myself because my child overcomes obstacles every single day!"

Team GSF is friends and family standing by the side of parents facing SMA saying, "This is something I CAN do. I may not be able to help you care for your child. I may not be able to stop SMA from progressing. But I CAN help make a difference."

Team GSF is other parents who look in the eyes of their own healthy children and imagine what it would feel like to be told, "NO TREATMENT. NO CURE." It is those parents saying, "I am fortunate and because I have been given the GIFT of health I will HELP other parents in need."

Team GSF is people who want to DO SOMETHING to help. People who have learned about the brutal SMA statistics and who want to see a day when those stats are no longer so grim.

Team GSF is people who use the opportunity as a catalyst for a healthier lifestyle and people who have lost over 50 pounds during their training.

Team GSF is people facing their own obstacles, their own struggles, and who draw STRENGTH from those bravely battling SMA.

Team GSF is in every city, in every state, in every region.

Team GSF is skilled athletes, Iron Men, triathletes, Boston Qualifiers, ultra marathoners... Team GSF is first time runners, walkers, relay teams, half marathoners, full marathoners, extreme obstacle lovers...

Team GSF is people who NEVER GIVE UP.
