Race Prep Racing Never Gives Up : Running 2012 King of the Hammers Tomorrow
February 09, 2012 by Bill Strong
There is something plain inspiring about people doing what they love and pushing their personal limits in sporting events. Racing. Running. Climbing. Biking. Swimming. Going fassssst! And we feel there's something profound about people challenging themselves physically to help those who are physically challenged. Pushing themselves so that someday those with conditions like SMA can do those things too. And we are so unbelievably motivated by those who selflessly turn those personal triumphs into an opportunity to further our cause through Team GSF.
On Friday, February 10, 2012, Race Prep Racing car #4474 will be doing just that. They'll be racing in one of the most respected desert races in the world, the grueling 2012 Griffin King of the Hammers, in Jonhson Valley, California. An event that draws in over 30,000 people. And theGSF NEVER GIVE UP. logo will once again be on their buggy and gear and with them every step of the way.
For those of you that have been following our blog for some time, you'll recall theGSF logo ran in the 2010 and 2011 King of the Hammers races. Gwendolyn's Aunt and Uncle are the heart and soul of Team Race Prep racing and we are so proud of them for continuing to dream big and for all that they have accomplished in the sport that they so love to do together. With a new motor this year and supportive new sponsors -- Falken Tire and GenRight Off-Road -- we know they are going to have an awesome race on Friday.
As for the race itself, it's straight up crazy. 171 miles of brutal desert and rock climbing that seem impossible to scale in a buggy. This video pretty much sums it up.
HUGE theGSF good luck to Team Race Prep Racing on Friday! Go get 'em and know that we are honored to be part of what you are doing!
