On The Mend/Lane FarmsOctober 19, 2009 by Victoria Gwendolyn is much, much improved. She is full of smiles, her eyes are bright, and she has her spunk almost completely back. We were all going a bit stir crazy after being stuck inside for several days, so we thought a morning jaunt to the darling pumpkin patch, Lane Farms, would be just the family outing we all needed.
Gwendolyn spent the morning with Daddy and they did go on a short walk, but she usually does not nap until 11:30/12:00. So, a 10 am Lane Farms date sounded perfect. We talked it up, mentioned the horse, the goats, even the pig. We told her about the tractor and the hay ride and how she was going to pick her very own pumpkin. She was ready and eager for an adventure.
And then we got in the car, stopped for a coffee, and out she went -- fast asleep. The drive isn't far, so we thought it may be just a little cat nap. Surely heaving her out of the car would wake her. Nope. Well, there is no way she's going to sleep through all the jostling and bumping over the hay. Sawed logs! Gwendolyn slept through the entire thing. We looked at the horse, the goats, the pig -- snoring. We picked out Daddy's big pumpkin and Mommy's medium pumpkin -- out. We debated which cute baby pumpkin was just right for Gwendolyn -- snoozing. Finally we decided to head out and try again another day.
Once we got on the freeway, our sleeping beauty awoke, confused and ready for her adventure. Not wanting to disappoint, we headed to Shoreline Park for a walk by the beach to look for dolphins and birds, and she never knew any differently.
We will try Lane Farms again later this week. Our little animal lover is going to love that darn horse!
