Little Miss FirecrackerJuly 05, 2010 by Victoria We had a really fun weekend and a great 4th of July.
1. It felt really nice to just be together. I don't know why because we are together quite a lot, but this weekend seemed a little slower...a little less doing and just being -- and I loved it.
2. Bill got to go golfing on Saturday -- a Father's Day pressie -- and he had a really wonderful, relaxing time. He doesn't get much "me" time and so Miss G and I were so thrilled to see him come home looking tanned, relaxed, and refreshed. He deserves it!
3. While Bill was golfing, I really enjoyed spending time decorating Gwendolyn's new "Big Girl Room." Oh yes, the Big Girl is getting ready for the real deal "Big Girl Room." In fact, the "Big Girl Bed" already arrived and is in full use...and Gwendolyn LOVES it -- as in wants to be in it all the time. She wants to read books in it and listen to music in it... getting tucked in is extra special... and she loves that we can all snuggle up together in her new bed (it's a bit squished with Elmo and everyone in there, too, but they are just going to have to make room sometimes ). And the best part is Gwendolyn is so darn proud of herself. She wants to show everyone and tell everyone. She listens intently when I talk about what else we are going to add, chiming in at the decor ideas she is really jazzed about. And the new additions this weekend are going over very well. Much more to do to get it just right for our growing girl! (Pictures coming soon...)
4.. For the big 4th celebration we headed over to a party at the Paskins and had a grand old time being patriotic in red, white and blue, waving flags and eating all the good yummies the holiday brings (more flag cake please, Marina!). It was so fun to hang out, lounge in the sun and then under the heat lamps when it got cold, and just chat the day away. And the big treat was Mike and Sarah had a bounce house and Gwendolyn absolutely loved jumping with Daddy. And we were beyond thrilled that she had the energy to be off bipap... and jump... and be excited -- TWICE! (A soccer ball to the head didn't even phase her -- casualties of a bounce house and she was too busy having fun!) Just as we got home we even caught a quick glimpse of the fireworks before Gwendolyn said she was Independenced out and, Please put me to bed...in my big girl bed... now!
****And guess what today is? Yep, Daddy's (aka Bill's) birthday! We're pretty excited around here to take our Numero Uno Fella out for a fun birthday dinner tonight and let him know just how special he is to us!
Hope you all had a great 4th weekend, too!
