EEG Follow UpOctober 08, 2009 by Victoria We met with a local neurologist this afternoon to discuss the EEG and the episodes we are seeing. It was inconclusive at this time, but there is concern that what we are seeing is indeed a seizure disorder. We were with the doctor for hours today and went over everything from possible medicines to possible emergency scenarios if she were to have a longer or more violent seizure. The next step is to have another EEG during her nap to see if we can get a better read on what's going on while she is asleep. We will check in with her other doctors and see what they think our next steps should be and also contact some of the SMA experts around the country to get their thoughts. And we are also planning to try to catch an episode on film and better document the frequency of these episodes.
We are feeling okay -- nervous and unsure. But, we have to push aside any major fears because we simply cannot take on any more stress. The good news is there are medicines that can help and so if she does have a seizure disorder we hopefully will have something to stop them -- I wish the same were true with her SMA.
