Easter Egg Fun
April 02, 2010 by VictoriaGramma is so creative and I am so glad. I have been busily collecting little gifts for Gwendolyn's Easter basket over the last few weeks (the usual sweets in the basket don't work for a child who doesn't eat by mouth), but I completely forgot about dying Easter eggs...and that's a perfect activity for Gwendolyn! So I was so excited this week on Gramma's weekly visit to see she had thoughtfully planned an entire egg decorating adventure. Ellen thought of every detail. She hollowed the eggs out, leaving only the eggs shells, so the eggs were light enough for Gwendolyn to hold. She had the different dyes all lined up on a cookie sheet in clear cups so Gwendolyn could see the colors and the process. And she even thought of sparkly bling stickers for the finishing touch! (Those had the WOW! factor for our Miss Sparkle Gwen.)
Gwendolyn was all for it. She sat in her chair for a little while and really liked dunking the eggs and pushing them down with a spoon. When she got tired from sitting up, we shifted and put her flat on the floor and she let us know we needed to hurry up getting her settled because she had eggs to decorate! She was very particular about which colors she wanted. And her eyes got huge each time the simple white egg came out of it's bath in a shockingly bright color.
After the eggs dried, Gramma helped Gwendolyn place stickers on the dyed eggs. She had princess and glitter stickers. But then the magnum opus was presented -- flower shaped faux diamonds with the major blingy bling factor!!! Oh wow! The eggs got a few, but then I casually said, "These are like diamond earrings..." And Gwendolyn excitedly started making sounds that clearly meant, "I need these on my ears!!!!!!!" She was so proud wearing her sparkle "earring" stickers to bed that night! She's just too cute!!!
Talk About It
happy Easter!
Be well..

Each time you have a new post about something do you for Gwendolyn, it simply melts my heart. I'm a NICU nurse, and have used Gwendolyn's story with SMA, along with her parent's never ending quest to find and use everything in their power to make their daughter's life magical every sing day.
Victoria and Bill, it's just not your daughter Gwendolyn who's special. So are the BOTH of you. Big time.
The amazement of the eggs going in white and coming out colored is always so fun to see!
