Charity of the Year!

We are super excited! GSF was selected by Cold Springs Elementary as their charity of the year! Cold Springs has a yearly charity campaign in which the Student Council members hold student generated fundraising and awareness events throughout the school year. And they chose us!!! How awesome is it that we were selected and what a neat school to actively instill philanthropy in their young students!

So yesterday I excitedly went to Cold Springs to meet the Student Council, tell them more about SMA and, of course, talk about Gwendolyn. They were the most darling group of third through sixth graders and I was completely impressed with their thoughtful questions. It is challenging to explain motor neurons, let alone to 9 through 11 year olds, but they seemed to really take it all in and were eager to learn. They are beginning their activities with an awareness booth and by selling Axxess books at their Fall Festival next week and will, no doubt, come up with wonderful ideas throughout the year. We can't wait to hear about them and be part of this.
