Upset tummy

February 28, 2009 by Bill Strong
Gwendolyn has had an upset tummy for the last several days. She's been lethargic, hasn't been sleeping well, and just has not been herself. She doesn't have a fever and her heart rate and O2 stats are normal. Victoria spoke with the doctor on Friday and he said a nasty, lingering stomach flu is...

Music Class Update

February 27, 2009 by Victoria Strong
I have been meaning to update about the music class for several weeks now. Although the first class was difficult, I realize now it was more about me grieving for a vision I had yet to let go of, an idea of what being a mother would entail. We are now on our forth week and it is absolutely the...

Snuggle singing with Mommy

February 26, 2009 by Bill Strong

Recently, Gwendolyn has been tolerating being elevated more often, on and off bi-pap, and we've been finding more creative ways to try and encourage her to do so. I just love this picture of Gwendolyn in Mommy's arms having a good snuggle singing session right before Gwendolyn's bedtime.

Feeding the ducks

February 25, 2009 by Bill Strong

Today, we took a walk with Gramma to one of the parks near our house, Alice Keck Park, and fed the ducks. Gwendolyn was understandably cautious, but seemed to really enjoy it - especially when we helped her throw the bread and she got to watch the ducks, and a pesky seagull, rush to grub. She...

TeenCheckup.com SMA/petition blog post

February 24, 2009 by Bill Strong
I recently reconnected with an old childhood friend, Erin, through Facebook. Victoria and I have marveled about how many friends we've connected with through Facebook that we never thought we'd cross paths with again. Erin writes for TeenCheckup.com, a blog dedicated to providing level-headed,...

G-tube infection looking much better

February 21, 2009 by Bill Strong
We've been giving Gwendolyn an antibiotic called Keflex for about 5 days and her g-tube infection is looking much, much better. Most importantly, her g-tube site is definitely much less sensitive to the touch for her - which is great news! I think a couple more days and we'll be taking her off the...

Little monkey

February 21, 2009 by Bill Strong

Gwendolyn, fresh out of her bath and ready for bed. She loves helping me brush her hair - every morning and especially after every bath. She just lights up when I ask her if she wants it brushed and she knows right where to look in the closet when I ask her where her brush is. She even likes to...
